School Bus Crashes into Ditch in DeKalb County, Georgia,

DEKALB COUNTY, GA. – A DeKalb County, Georgia, school bus crashed into a ditch, according to an online news story reported at Several students were on board at the time, but no one was seriously injured. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.*

At approximately 7 a.m., emergency officials responded to the area of Bouldercrest Road and Interstate 285 in DeKalb County, Georgia, upon reports about a school bus crash. They arrived to find a DeKalb County School District bus in the ditch off of Bouldercrest Road. 

It is not yet clear what caused the bus to travel into the ditch, but reports indicate it might have collided with an SUV. No information was provided about this SUV or the nature or circumstances of the accident. 

DeKalb County School District spokesperson Eileen Houston-Stewart said that several students were on board the bus at the time of the crash, and the bus was traveling to Cedar Grove Elementary School. The school is about a mile from where the accident occurred. Houston-Stewart did not indicate how many students were on board, but officers with the DeKalb County Police Department said no one was seriously injured. 

No one involved in the accident has been identified. Officials closed part of Bouldercrest Road after the accident in order to remove the bus from the ditch and place it back onto the road. It is not clear if the bus is still operable or if it was damaged. 

The crash is still under investigation, and police and the school district have not released any additional information at this time.
