Fatal Crash Reported on Watson Boulevard in Warner Robins, Georgia (GA)

September 09, 2020

WARNER ROBINS, GA- According to 13wmz.com, a driver struck a 53-year-old man in Warner Robins this week, causing deadly injuries. The victim was reportedly pushing a shopping cart on the side of the Watson Boulevard when the crash took place.*

Police received news of the crash in the late evening and found that the victim was walking in the eastbound lanes when the car struck him. Another person appears to have been walking in the gutter next to the road. That individual was identified as a 30-year-old man.

The 39-year-old male driver, who was in a 2009 Toyota Camry, is not currently facing any charges related to the collision. Responders rushed the victim to the hospital, where he died a short while after the wreck.

Pedestrian crashes kill more than 6,000 people every year. There are steps that people can take to improve their safety when walking, such as using sidewalks and crosswalks. Of course, there are plenty of situations where there are no sidewalks or crosswalks to use, and where people are forced to share the road with cars. It is also important not to assume that a driver can see you, especially at night.

Naturally, there is only so much that pedestrians can do if divers are not cautious. It is important that motorists slow down, especially if they are driving in the dark or in bad weather when their visibility is limited. Driving at or below the speed limit is also an issue because when traveling faster, the risk of getting into a crash is higher, as are the consequences of a crash. Obviously, drivers should never operate a car while under the influence of drugs or alcohol and should avoid distractions. Motorists must share in the responsibility of keeping all road users safe.
