Truck Crash Reported on Route 67 in Greenwich, Connecticut (CT)

September 06, 2020

GREENWICH, CT- Ncadvertiser.com writes that a crash occurred this week involving a truck on Route 67. The incident is suspected of having been caused by mechanical issues in the truck.*

According to reports, the truck started to roll backward and then crossed over two traffic lanes before it entered the trees on the roadside. The driver was operating a 2016 GMC Canyon pickup truck, which she was taking to the site of a residence for a service call during the late morning. The driver had exited the vehicle when it began to roll. Reports state that the 61-year-old was rushed to the Danbury Hospital with injuries that occurred when she was knocked down by the vehicle. The vehicle had to be taken from the scene by a tow truck. Visible damage occurred to the truck’s passenger side and to the back of the driver’s side. The company that owns the truck and a witness both believe that the truck malfunctioned, leading to the crash.

While defects do cause crashes, they are certainly not the main cause of collisions. People are more likely to cause wrecks than mechanical failures. More than half of all crashes are considered the result of a driver’s behavior entirely. Over 90 percent are at least partially the result of a driver’s actions.

When defects do cause collisions, people are often frightened, but statistics indicate that as far as crash causes go, distractions, speeding, alcohol, and other common mistakes lead to the vast majority of traffic-related fatalities and injuries. Also, weather and poor visibility are some of the leading causes of collisions. Overall, defects, although they do cause accidents, are responsible for relatively few accidents on the road. For people who wish to stay safe when driving, the most important thing is to be cautious and alert.
