Driver Crashes into Atlanta Emergency Room in Deadly Accident in Georgia
ATLANTA, GA- Thesun.co.uk writes that a 75-year-old woman driving an SUV killed one person in an emergency room in Atlanta. The driver was heading the Piedmont Hospital for an appointment when she crashed into the facility, killing a 55-year-old woman and injuring others.*
One of those injured was a 29-year-old woman who later spoke to reporters about the horrific crash. The woman was struck, causing her to fly through a doorway, leaving her unconscious with broken hips, a broken tailbone, and a broken pelvis. The young woman expressed frustration by the fact that she was not protected from such trauma in an emergency room.
Video from the scene shows the out-of-control SUV crashing through the ER waiting room, where it collides with two of the workers and nearly struck several others.
So far, police have not filed any charges against the woman responsible for the tragic collision, stating that she did not intend to drive into the building and that she had not used drugs or alcohol prior to the incident. The report did not state the exact reason the woman lost control of the SUV.
The surviving victim stated that she is considering taking legal action against both the hospital as well as the driver who caused the crash. She stated that the hospital failed to provide secured posts that would have prevented a vehicle from entering the waiting room and causing injuries and destruction. The woman stated that she had not heard anything from the driver whose actions caused her life-altering injuries. She stated that she would like to know whether the woman feels any remorse for causing others so much pain. Police stated that there is still a possibility of the woman facing charges in relation to the deadly collision.
