Three Hospitalized In Crash On Eisenhower Parkway in Macon, Georgia (GA)
MACON, GA- According to 41nbc.com, three people suffered injuries and were hospitalized following a crash that occurred this week in Macon, Georgia. The Bibb County Sherriff's Office responded to the scene of the wreck, which occurred overnight at the intersection of Interstate 75 and the Eisenhower Parkway.*
Police reports indicate that a 29-year-old woman from Macon was traveling eastbound on Eisenhower Parkway when a 21-year-old woman, also from Macon, was traveling westbound. The 21-year-old driver tried to turn left onto the ramp for Interstate 75 but collided with the passenger side of the other motorist's car. The male passenger was in the 29-year-old woman's vehicle at the time.
Responders rushed all of the involved victims to the Medical Center Navicent Health. The driver and passenger in the car that was traveling straight were both injured in the wreck but are in stable condition. The woman who was turning sustained critical injuries, but is currently stable.
The crash remains under investigation, and police are requesting that anyone with information contact the county sheriff's office or Crime Stoppers.
Left turns to cause the majority of intersection-related crashes, and nearly half of all collisions in the United States occur at intersections. Studies indicate that if drivers did not make left turns, there would be millions of fewer collisions in the nation every year. Research makes it clear that left turns are dangerous, but still, most people believe that avoiding turning left would make them inefficient drivers.
It may surprise many drivers to know that left turns are actually inefficient and that by avoiding this common maneuver, motorists not only make themselves safer but can actually save time and money on fuel. Skeptics need only look to UPS's left-turn avoidance policy to understand why avoiding lefts might be a better option for us all.
