Rollover Collision Injures Two in Atlanta, Georgia (GA)
ATLANTA, GA- Ajc.com writes that a rollover crash on Interstate 20 injured two people this week in Atlanta. The wreck involved two cars that collided, leading to one of the vehicles rolling over. Both of the involved automobiles struck a concrete barrier.*
The crash took place in the early morning in the eastbound lanes of the interstate. Police are stating that a Cadillac SRX was traveling at a high rate of speed and that the driver was behaving recklessly. The Cadillac and a Volvo CX90 collided, and both vehicles spun and struck the median. The impact caused the Cadillac to overturn two times before landing on its roof. The woman driving the Cadillac, identified as a 34-year-old from Mableton, was injured in the collision. Responders transported her to the Atlanta Medical Center for treatment. A 53-year-old individual in the Volvo suffered injuries and was transported to the Grady Medical Center. The crash scene took about one and a half hours to clear. Officers have not yet stated whether charges will be filed in relation to the incident. The investigation is still underway.
Speeding is a major factor in many severe crashes in the United States every year. For over twenty years, about one in three motor vehicle accident fatalities involve a speeding driver. Drivers can put themselves and others at risk when traveling at the speed limit when conditions on the road are poor. For instance, in inclement weather, a driver traveling at the speed limit may be traveling too fast for road conditions. Higher speeds mean a greater chance of losing control over a vehicle, more severe crashes, and less effective safety equipment. Getting a ticket may be the least of a speeding motorist's consequences.
