Teen Driver Causes Tragic Crash that Kills One, Injures Two in Georgia
GILMER COUNTY, GA- Ajc.com writes that a teenager caused a fatal car crash this week in North Georgia. The wreck left one of the passengers in the car dead and injured two other individuals. According to state troopers, the teen was traveling on GA 282 in the late evening when he lost control over the car. The vehicle rolled over and then collided with a tree.*
The accident led to three of the passengers in the car being ejected. The nineteen-year-old boy who had been traveling in the front seat of the car was declared dead at the crash site. A sixteen-year-old girl and an eighteen-year-old girl who were both in the back seat of the car were injured in the collisions as well. Responders rushed the eighteen-year-old to the Wellstar Kennestone Hospital while the younger teenage girl was transported to Erlanger Hospital. So far, there have been no updates on either of their conditions.
The driver, identified as an eighteen-year-old boy from Elijay, also sustained injuries but was not hospitalized.
The Georgia State Patrol stated that the boy was arrested after they determined that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
The teen is now facing multiple criminal charges, including first-degree homicide by vehicle and driving under the influence. He is currently being held on a $19,000 bond.
