Crash Severely Injures Colquitt County Court Clerk

COLQUITT COUNTY, GA- Walb.com writes that a clerk working for the Colquitt County superior court was involved in a severe and tragic accident about six months ago. The incident occurred while the victim was walking on a crosswalk when a car struck her, sending her flying twenty feet through the air.*

The woman has been working to recover from her injuries ever since the incident, and now states that she is blessed to be alive and have recovered to the point she is at today. While her memory of the incident is spotty, the victim stated that she was told that she lost consciousness and that she was not breathing after being struck by the car. The woman was with co-workers who stated that they were terrified as she laid on the ground after the incident. 

Responders rushed the woman to the Archbold Medical Center, where she remained for nearly three weeks before being transferred to a rehabilitation center located in Florida. While she is continuing her rehabilitation, the victim is finally returning to work. 

The woman stated that she wants to serve her community and that she learned a great deal from the horrific ordeal. She praised the emergency responders who arrived on the scene and helped to rescue her at the time of the collision. She also thanked her co-workers for their efforts and for keeping the office running while she focused on her recovery. 

Following the incident, lines have been added to the crosswalk, and some parking spaces that were close to the traffic light have been eliminated. The changes were made in an effort to prevent similar crashes from occurring in the future.
