Motorcycle Crash Severely Injures Two in Pinellas County, Florida

May 20, 2020

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL- Patch.com writes that two people sustained severe injuries in a crash that occurred in Pinellas County, Florida, during the early afternoon this week. The wreck took place when a tire on the motorcycle blew out on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. The motorcycle overturned, causing both the driver and a passenger to be ejected. The victims were identified as a 72-year-old man from St. Petersburg and a 57-year-old woman from Georgia. *

Defective motor vehicles can present a variety of severe dangers to the occupants of those vehicles, as well as others on the roadway. When an automobile is defective, the person or persons injured can collect compensation for injuries that they suffer as a result of the defect. In the event of a fatal crash, the victim or victims’ loved ones are able to collect compensation.

Several specific requirements must first be met in order for a claim to be successful. The first factor is that the vehicle, be it a car, truck, or motorcycle is defective or has a defective part. The defect could have been the outcome of poor design, a mistake that occurred during the manufacturing process, or something that occurred while the product or its components were being shipped.

The second requirement for a successful product defect claim is that the defect must have injured or caused injuries to a person who was using the vehicle as it is intended to be used. This means in the case of high-risk stunt moves, the claim might not be successful, but if someone is driving or riding on the road, then they are using the vehicle as intended. Finally, the vehicle cannot have undergone significant modifications that had altered it a great deal as compared to when it was sold. If all of these factors are met, the victim may have a case for product liability.
