Police Are Investigating a Fatal Accident in Athens, Georgia (GA)
ATHENS, GA - May 3, 2020 - According to a news report on WaltonTribune.com, Athens-Clarke County police officers reported that a northeast Georgia woman was tragically injured in a serious accident on May 2, 2020. The Athens-Clarke County police department responded to an accident at South Ridge Drive and Jefferson River Road. The crash occurred at approximately 5 p.m. near U.S. 129 (Jefferson Road).
Athens-Clarke County Lt. John A. Radford Jr. reported that an older model Chevrolet Caprice collided with a northbound Ford F-150. The news report states that the driver of the Chevrolet Caprice pulled out in front of the Ford F-150 pickup truck, causing the pickup truck to lose control and strike another vehicle. The vehicle struck by the F-150 was a 2019 Toyota RAV4. The passenger in the Toyota RAV4 was severely injured in the accident with the Ford F-150. She was taken to the Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center, where she tragically passed away due to her injures. The driver of the Toyota RAV4 was also injured in the collision.
The drivers of the other two motor vehicles were also injured, according to the news report. The news story states that this accident is the sixth fatal motor vehicle accident in Clarke County, Georgia this year.
