Motorcycle Strikes and Kills Two in Tragic Crash in Orange County, Florida

March 15, 2020

ORANGE COUNTY, FL- writes that a tragic crash took place when a motorcycle struck a woman and her young daughter, killing both. The Florida Highway Patrol stated that the victims were an almost 34-year-old woman and a child who would have turned eight this April.*

Witnesses at the scene stated that the motorcyclist was speeding when he struck the victims. After killing with the woman and her child, the 2015 Honda veered into oncoming traffic where it collided with a van. Responders rushed both victims to the hospital, but they both were declared dead shortly after the incident.

According to family, the mother and daughter were walking home from the store when they were killed. The two were not in a designated crosswalk at the time. A store owner near the site of the incident stated that he frequently sees people trying to cross the busy road, and also sees many reckless and speeding motorists drive through. He stated that motorcycles are often spotted traveling 80 or 90 miles per hour on the road and that the tragedy was not surprising to him.

The motorcyclist, a 29-year-old man from Orlando, is anticipated to survive the severe injuries he sustained in the crash. Police stated that the man lacked the proper permit for operating a motorcycle and said that charges are pending against the driver. The driver of the van, a 54-year-old man from Orlando, did not suffer injuries. One witness stated that she saw the motorcycle strike the victims and break apart from the impact.

A GoFundMe page is helping to raise money for the funeral costs. The remaining funds will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. The soon to be eight-year-old had requested donations be made to the charity for upcoming eighth birthday.
