High-Speed Collision Tragically Kills One, Injures Two in Cobb County, Georgia
COBB COUNTY, GA- Wsbtv.com writes that a Cobb County collision left one person dead and two others with injuries over the weekend. The incident took place at the intersection of Johnson Ferry Road and Powers Road in the late evening.*
Police stated that a Mercedes sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed on Johnson Ferry Road when it collided with a Mercedes convertible. The victim, a 61-year-old man, was in the convertible. He died at the scene of the crash. The two people in the sedan suffered injuries in the wreck and were both transported to the hospital. The conditions and identities of the two injured individuals have not been reported. According to the victim’s daughter, her father was making a left turn at the intersection, and the other driver was speeding and struck his car with incredible force. The convertible was pushed across the roadway.
The incident happened just about 100 yards from where the victim lived. The family is devastated by his sudden loss. According to his daughter, the victim was outgoing and was excited to spend time with his new grandson. The grandfather had planned to take his grandson bass fishing and to Braves games.
Locals stated that the sound of the crash was loud that many people ran outside and started to try to help the victims. One of the vehicles caught fire. The driver and passenger in the sedan were still alive but injured. The victim appeared to be dead by the time witnesses arrived on the scene. Neighbors say that the roadway is dangerous because of the drivers who frequently speed through the area. One witness said that they heard no brakes before impact, only the loud crash.
