Car Drives Into Hair Salon in Georgia

February 10, 2020

MACON, GA- writes that a hairstylist in Georgia stated that she was saved by a customer when a car drove through the salon earlier this week. The woman says that the incident shook her up. She stated that a customer pulled her to the side to avoid being struck by the car as careened through the shop’s window.*

The woman was cutting the customer’s hair and says she saw the vehicle out of the corner of her eye as it approached the shop at a high rate of speed. The customer heard a loud crash and said he jumped to his feet. A Toyota Camry was just feet away when he pulled the stylist out of the vehicle’s path. Reports indicate that the driver of the vehicle, a 59-year-old man, was trying to make U-turn when he lost control of his Camry. The sedan traveled straight at a Great Clips and smashed through the shop’s front window. Police had a difficult time understanding what transpired because of a language barrier with the driver. Officers are still trying to work out the details surrounding the collision. Charges have not yet been filed against the motorist.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is asking that anyone with information about the incident contact the police or Crime Stoppers. Images from the scene show the front of the salon wrecked and glass covering the ground. The Camry can be seen in the back of the shop, indicating that it traveled past the front desk, waiting area, and salon chairs.

Vehicle collisions into storefronts happen about 60 times a day in the United States. The majority of these crashes involve either operator errors or pedal errors.
