Two Injured in Motorcycle Wreck in South Hall, Georgia

January 31, 2020

SOUTH HALL, GA- writes that two people were hospitalized following a wreck in South Hall. A motorcycle and another vehicle were involved in the accident, which occurred in the late evening. Responders arrived at the intersection of Spout Springs Road and Dove Point Lane and transported the victims to nearby medical facilities. Reports did not indicate the severity of the injuries or the identity of the victims.*

Motorcycle crashes are often the result of a driver failing to notice the motorcyclist on the road. In fact, more than 40 percent of motorcycle wrecks are due to drivers overlooking these smaller vehicles. Experts say that motorcyclists should help the risk of drivers missing them by wearing bright or reflective clothes. Of course, it is the responsibility of drivers to look out for other vehicles, including smaller ones.

At intersections, motorcyclists should use extra caution and slow down. A large number of motorcycle crashes are due to drivers making left turns in front of motorcyclists. When this happens, the biker may not have time to slow down to avoid striking the larger car. While the driver would typically be at fault in such an event, motorcyclists can lose their lives in these crashes.

Motorcyclists should understand the risks presented by their vehicles. Riding on two wheels may be fun, but it comes with a risk of death that is about 28 times greater than the risk for people traveling in cars. Getting proper training, understanding how to ride, and using recommended safety equipment can help motorcyclists stay safer on the road. Of course, all riders should use helmets approved by the Department of Transportation.
