Baby Ejected from Vehicle in Crash in Bainbridge, Georgia
BAINBRIDGE, GA- wtxl.com writes that a nine-month-old baby suffered severe injuries in a collision in which the child was thrown from the vehicle. The Georgia State Police are investigating the accident that occurred over the weekend in Bainbridge.*
Reports indicate that a 27-year-old woman was driving eastbound on Bethel Road and ran a stop sign at GA 1. Another vehicle that was traveling northbound through the intersection struck the woman’s vehicle on its passenger side. The other car spun around because of the force of the crash. The woman’s car came to rest on the east side of the road.
The nine-month-old in the woman’s vehicle was ejected due to the impact of the crash. Two other children were also in the woman’s vehicle, including a two-year-old and a 7-year-old. Reports indicate that none of the children were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Responders rushed the six-month-old to the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital via life-flight while the two other children were taken by ambulance.
The crash injured all three children and both drivers, but according to reports, all were later released from the hospital.
The police filed charges against the woman. The charges include three counts for violating Georgia’s child restraint laws, three counts of child cruelty, one count for failure to maintain her lane, and additional traffic-related offenses.
