GEORGIA- Mdjonline.com writes that a truck struck an SUV causing the driver of the smaller vehicle to sustain critical injuries over the weekend in Bartow County.*
The early morning accident occurred at West Avenue and Henderson Driver when the truck driver apparently drove through a red traffic signal and hit the victim’s SUV. Police say that the victim is a 37-year-old woman from Cartersville. Following the collision, responders transported the critically injured victim to the Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta via a helicopter.
The truck driver, a 21-year-old man from Ohio, was taken into police custody. The authorities charged the driver with Reckless Driving, Driving while on a Suspended License, and Driving under the influence. The driver later made bail, and the Bartow County Jail released him.
Police say that the victim was operating a 2013 GMC Acadia and heading northbound on Henderson Drive when the other driver ran his 2012 Ford F-150 through a red light while traveling eastbound on Ga. Hwy 61. The truck hit the front driver’s side of the Acadia.
The intense damage meant that officers had to cut the vehicle apart to extract the severely injured woman.
