Teenager in Critical Condition After Gilmer County, Georgia Accident
GILMER COUNTY, GA – According to an online news report at wsbtv.com, a community is rallying together to support a teen who is currently in critical condition following a Gilmer County crash.*
A student and football player at Gilmer High School was driving home last week when his vehicle overturned on Georgia Highway 52. The seventeen-year-old was airlifted to an area hospital and almost didn’t survive. The details on the accident have not been released to the public at this time.
"They took him into surgery Thursday morning and told the family they weren't sure he would come out of it," said the teen’s aunt. Nearly 300 individuals attended a vigil that was held for the teen and his family.
This isn’t the first outpouring of support from the community since the accident occurred. Classmates of the teen came to the hospital to be by his side. "You couldn't even get off the elevator one night they were all sleeping on the floor," the teen’s aunt said.
The injured student loved red, white, and blue and wore these colors to his homecoming. As such, friends decorated a local in these colors for him. The teen is slowly recovering, and recently just opened up his eyes.
