Multiple-Vehicle Accident in Start, Louisiana Causes Tragic Death of a Man from North Carolina
START, LA – According to an online news report at myarklamiss.com, an accident involving two tractor-trailers caused the death of a man from North Carolina. The accident occurred on Interstate 20 occurred in the morning hours which caused the shutdown of all western lanes near Start, Louisiana.*
Per the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, the western lanes close to Magnolia Drive at exit 132 were closed due to a vehicular accident. It appears that the accident involved at least two 18-wheelers.
According to Louisiana State Police, the accident occurred during the morning rush hour commute on Interstate 20 close to the Ouachita/Richland Parish line.
A previous crash caused traffic backups in the westbound lanes of the roadway. A 2020 Volvo tractor-trailer was not able to ascertain that traffic was at a standstill and slammed into the rear-end of a 2011 Freightliner tractor-trailer.
A passenger who was in the sleeper compartment of the Volvo was transported to an area hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries. He has not been identified in the report at this time.
