Pedestrian Struck By a Vehicle on Commerce Avenue in LaGrange, Georgia
LaGrange, GA – According to an online news report at lagrangenews.com,a pedestrian was struck and tragically killed in an accident that occurred on Commerce Avenue over this past weekend. The pedestrian, a male, was attempting to cross the roadway when he was hit.*
In the late evening hours, LaGrange Police officers were dispatched to the scene of the accident that occurred on the 100 block of Commerce Avenue. Per a police report, the driver, a female, indicated that she was driving on Commerce Avenue and was attempting to turn left into a parking lot of a local business. The driver asserted to police that she did not see the pedestrian until she hit him.
The pedestrian indicated to police that he was trying to cross the road. He had crossed over the first two lanes but was hit when he entered the turn lane, per a report from the LaGrange Police Department. The pedestrian reports that he did not see the vehicle approach him when he was in the turn lane.
The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital for the treatment of pain to his head and right leg. Per the report, the driver did not sustain injuries in the crash.
The police were able to determine that the pedestrian did not yield to the woman’s vehicle when trying to cross the road. He was also not crossing in a crosswalk at the time of the crash. The pedestrian was cited for a misdemeanor offense for being a pedestrian in the roadway.
