Two People Tragically Die in Valdosta Crash

November 14, 2019

VALDOSTA, GA – According to an online news report at wctv.tv, two individuals tragically died in an accident that occurred on Interstate 75 south close to mile marker 15 in the early morning hours, per the Georgia State Patrol.*

A passenger vehicle and an 18-wheeler became engulfed in flames as a result of the accident. The Lowndes County and Valdosta fire departments were dispatched to the scene to put out the fire. Two of the occupants in the passenger vehicle died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

It is not clear what caused the accident.  The crash is currently being investigated by the Georgia State Patrol.

The coroner’s office identified the occupants in the passenger vehicle however, their names have not been reported pending notification to their next of kin.  Their cause of death appears to stem from the injuries the two occupants of the passenger vehicle sustained in the traffic accident.

According to the local coroner, “[t]hanks to the Valdosta and Lowndes County fire units for a swift response and great teamwork.  These types of calls are hard. Hard on everyone that answers that call, firemen, medics, troopers, coroners, tow truck operators, dispatchers, everyone."
