Transit Bus Crash in Burke County, Georgia, Tragically Kills One, Injures Five

BURKE COUNTY, GA. – According to an online news story reported at wrdw.com, a transit bus crash that occurred in Burke County, Georgia, tragically killed one person. WRDW reports that at least five other people were injured in the accident, the cause of which is still under investigation by local authorities.*

It is not clear what time the accident happened, but the news report states that it occurred on Highway 23 at the intersection with Spring Church Road. The Burke County Sheriff’s Office and WRDW state that emergency responders went to the scene on a report of a traffic accident and arrived to find that a transit bus had been involved in a collision with another vehicle. No information about the other vehicle, including its make and model, was included in the report. 

Authorities investigating the accident have not yet said how it happened. It is unclear what events led to the two vehicles colliding or what factors might have contributed to the wreck. Deputies are still actively looking into the cause of the collision. 

WRDW reports that one person tragically died in the accident. She was identified only as a woman. Her age and city of residence were not listed in the report. It appears from the report that she might have been the driver of the second vehicle, but this information was not confirmed by authorities. 

The report did not say how many people were riding in the transit bus at the time of the accident. WRDW states that at least five people sustained injuries in the crash, but the report did not specify if these were bus passengers or if any of them had been riding in the other vehicle. It is unclear if the bus driver was among those injured. The seriousness of injuries and current conditions were not reported.
