Multi-Vehicle Accident Reported on I-475 in Macon, Georgia
MACON, GA. – According to an online news article posted at wgxa.tv, a multi-vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 475 in Macon, Georgia. Several emergency agencies responded to the scene, though investigators have released little information about the nature of the accident. It is not clear if anyone was injured.*
The collision happened close to a rest area on the northbound side of I-475. A mile marker or exit number for the location was not provided in the report, so the specific place where the crash occurred is not clear. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and WGXA report that several agencies were called to the scene for a traffic accident. They arrived to find that three vehicles had crashed into each other.
One of the vehicles involved was a Bob Tail truck, and the other two vehicles were semi-trucks, according to the report. Deputies say that one of the semi-trucks somehow crashed into the Bob Trail truck, and the impact forced the Bob Tail truck into the other semi-truck. It is unclear how the initial collision occurred. Authorities did not describe the events leading to the incident or say whether anyone was cited at the scene.
It is unclear if anyone sustained injuries in the accident. The report did not say how many people were riding in each of the vehicles. Fire crews were called to the scene, but it is not clear if paramedics transported anyone away for medical care.
The collision resulted in several lanes shutting down in I-475 North, which led to significant traffic delays in the area. Drivers were encouraged during this time to seek other routes and avoid the interstate if possible. The report does not say how long the interstate remained blocked off.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating.
