Head-On Crash on Horton Hwy in College Grove, Tennessee, Results in Fatality

COLLEGE GROVE, TN. – According to a news report published online at, a head-on vehicle crash that took place on Horton Highway in College Grove, Tennessee, resulted in one fatality. Tennessee Highway Patrol is handling the investigation, and Troopers have not yet said what caused the crash.*

The accident happened close to Interstate 840 on Horton Highway. Tennessee Highway Patrol and WSMV report that a Ford F-250 pickup truck was traveling south on the highway and somehow crossed over the middle line of the roadway. The truck then entered the path of northbound traffic and an oncoming tractor-trailer. The pickup and the tractor-trailer then crashed into each other head-on, according to Troopers. 

Following the impact, the tractor-trailer overturned and began leaking fuel. Williamson County Emergency Management was called to look into the incident. It is not clear at this time what led to the crash. Investigators did not provide information immediately on the potential reasons why the driver of the pickup truck crossed over the centerline of Horton Highway. 

WSMV reports that the driver of the Ford pickup tragically died in the accident. Troopers have identified him as a 41-year-old man from Franklin, Tennessee. It appears he was the only person in the pickup at the time of the collision. 

Troopers identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as a 37-year-old man from Houston, Texas. The report did not say whether he sustained any injuries or whether anyone was riding in the rig with him. 

The highway was shut down for a period of time after the crash in order for crews to address the fuel spill. It is not clear when the roadway reopened.
