Semi-Truck Crash on I-24 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Tragically Kills One
MURFREESBORO, TN. – According to a news report published online at wsmv.com, a semi-truck crash that occurred on Interstate 24 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, tragically killed one person. The wreck involved one semi-truck and two passenger vehicles and appears to have happened during a lane change.*
The collision occurred on the eastbound side of I-24, near mile marker 69. Authorities and WSMV report that a semi-truck was traveling east and attempted to change lanes. It is not clear what lane the truck had been in at the time. In making the lane change, the semi-truck collided with a 2007 Ford Mustang. The Ford then rotated on the roadway and crashed into an eastbound 2016 Chevrolet Silverado.
Following the impact, the semi-truck ran off the road and crashed into an embankment, after which it turned onto its side. The Ford and the Chevy both came to a rest on the shoulder of I-24. Authorities investigating the accident have not yet identified the official cause. It is unclear whether the semi-truck driver traveled into the path of the Ford or if the initial collision happened for another reason.
WSMV reports that the driver of the semi-truck tragically died in the crash. He has been identified as a 43-year-old man from Fayette, Alabama. It does not appear that any passengers were in the truck when the accident took place.
It is not clear how many people were riding in the other two vehicles. The report did not say if anyone in the Ford or the Chevy was injured in the wreck. The driver of the Ford was identified as a 41-year-old woman from Murfreesboro. The driver of the Chevy was identified as a 22-year-old man from Rockvale, Tennessee.
