Man from Gwinnett County, Georgia Indicates that an Uber Driver Struck Him, Resulting in Injuries
GWINNETT COUNTY, GA – According to an online news report at cbs46.com, a man from Gwinnett County indicates that a driver struck him on the highway, which resulted in injuries and significant damage to his vehicle.*
While witnesses indicated to police that it was the fault of an Uber driver, the victim asserts that Uber’s insurer is now blaming him and has refused to cover the insurance costs.
The man who was hit by the Uber driver was driving home from his place of employment on Interstate 85 when he was struck. Now he is left without transportation and Uber is dragging its feet when it comes to covering the man’s insurance expenses. “Uber driver switched lanes very quickly, right in front of me, didn’t have any lights on, no blinker whatsoever, swerved in front of my vehicle, looked like he hit his brakes, which called my truck to flip,” said the victim.
The accident occurred last week and resulted in the closure of all lanes of Interstate 85. The victim notes that the Uber driver was transporting a female passenger at the time of the crash. She rendered aid to the victim. He was ultimately transported to a local hospital for treatment. The passenger indicated to police that the Uber driver cut the victim off, which resulted in the accident. The police fined the Uber driver.
However, Uber’s insurance is denying liability for the accident, asserting that the Uber driver’s dashboard camera showed otherwise. The victim, in response, asserts that Uber is trying to point the finger at him rather than the Uber driver.
Harvey said about a week later Uber’s insurance adjuster told him the Uber driver had dash cam video that showed otherwise. “They’re trying to put me at fault,” the victim added. It appears, per the victim, that Uber’s insurer has not yet spoken to the female passenger, who is the key witness of the accident.
