The collision took place late in the evening, close to the intersection of Country Club Drive and Los Cerritos Park Place. The Long Beach Police Department and People report that at approximately 10 p.m., a 2002 Toyota Sequoia was traveling on the roadway approaching the intersection. People reports that the other two pedestrians also tragically died from their injuries two days after the accident. The victims were identified as family members, including a 30-year-old man, a 32-year-old woman, and their three-year-old son.

Officials identified the driver of the Toyota as a 20-year-old man. People reports that after performing a DUI investigation at the scene, officers placed the driver under arrest and booked him into jail on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence. He was released from the Long Beach County Jail on a $100,000 bond, according to People. It is unclear when he will appear next in court.
