Father, Daughter Tragically Killed in Vehicle Crash in Laurens County, Georgia
LAURENS COUNTY, GA. – According to an online news report from wsbtv.com, a father and daughter were tragically killed in a vehicle crash that happened in Laurens County, Georgia. Few details about the wreck have been released at this time, but the victims have been identified by investigating officials.*
The accident occurred during the morning on an unnamed roadway outside of Dublin, Georgia, in Laurens County. The specific location of the accident was not provided in the report. Georgia State Patrol and WSB-TV report that a car was traveling east and departed from the roadway. It appears the driver then potentially overcorrected and traveled back onto the road and into the opposite lane of travel.
Upon entering the westbound side of the roadway, the car crashed into a westbound pickup truck, according to Troopers. It is not clear at this time what caused the car to initially leave the roadway or what events might have led to the accident. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the collision.
WSB-TV reports that the driver of the car and a juvenile passenger in the car were tragically killed in the crash. The report identified the driver as a 42-year-old man from Johnson County, Georgia, and the passenger as the man’s one-year-old daughter. The report says that the man was a teacher at Johnson County Middle School and a football and basketball coach. The victims were also reportedly the husband and daughter of the editor at the Milledgeville, Georgia, newspaper, the Union-Recorder.
The driver of the pickup truck was identified as a 25-year-old man from Dublin. It is not clear if he was injured or if anyone was riding with him at the time of the accident.
Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident, and the WSB-TV report contained no additional information.
