October 31, 2019

PERRY, GA. – According to a news report posted online at cbs46.com, a pedestrian was tragically killed in a hit-and-run crash that happened on Interstate 75 in Perry, Georgia. The driver who hit the victim is still at-large, and Georgia State Patrol Troopers are asking for the public to contact them with any information that might lead to an arrest.*

The collision took place on the northbound side of I-75 by Perry. No mile marker or exit number was listed in the news report, so the exact location of the accident is unclear. Georgia State Patrol and CBS 46 report that a pedestrian was walking somewhere along the interstate and was hit by a passing vehicle. The report did not indicate what direction the pedestrian had been walking or where in relation to the roadway the pedestrian was walking before the accident.

Following the accident, the driver of the vehicle did not stop but continued traveling north on I-75. The vehicle was described as a 2019 white Freightliner tractor-trailer. Troopers have reported that the tractor-trailer is missing the headlight on the driver’s side. It is not clear if they found the headlight at the scene or obtained this information from a witness.

CBS 46 reports that the pedestrian tragically died at the scene. No identifying information for the victim was included in the report.

Georgia State Patrol is managing the investigation of this fatal accident, and as of the time of the CBS 46 report’s posting, no arrests had been made. The driver has not been identified.

Troopers are asking for the public to contact them with information about the incident, including eyewitness information or any information about the location of the driver or the tractor-trailer. The Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team assigned to the case can be reached by calling (404) 670-7881.
