Teenager Hospitalized After Being Struck by a Car in Laurens County, Georgia
RENTZ, GA – According to an online news report at 13wmaz.com, a teenager from Laurens County has been transported to a hospital where he is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle.*
The Georgia State Patrol has identified the boy as a 13-year-old, as well as the driver, who is a female. The female had initially thought that she struck a deer and continued to travel until she found a safe area off the roadway to assess the damage to her vehicle. Instead of finding a deer, she came upon the teenager. At this time, she sought help and called 911. A neighbor in the area tried to help the woman render aid to the teenager until the emergency personnel arrived at the scene.
Per a trooper with the Georgia State Patrol, the crash occurred on Payne Road close to Mark Wood Road in the early morning hours. The woman was operating a white 2015 Chevrolet Sonic when the teenager attempted to cross the road from the north shoulder and right in front of her car. According to the accident report, the boy was wearing dark clothing at the time of the crash. He had been waiting for the school bus when the accident happened.
The teen was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition. The driver is not expected to face charges. There are no further details on the accident at this time. The crash remains under investigation by the local police.
