Accident Causes Delays on Interstate 95 South Close Exit 16 Exit in Chatham County, Georgia

CHATHAM COUNTY, GA – According to an online news report at, an accident resulted in delays on Interstate 95 southbound close to the Interstate 16 exit in the afternoon hours over the weekend.  At least one individual was transported to an area hospital following the crash.*

The accident appears to involve a driver who lost control of their vehicle, per the Pooler Police Department.  The exact nature and extent of injuries have not been reported.  It is known that one individual, who has not been identified, sustained injuries.  The accident involved a work van for a local carpet-cleaning company.

There are no further details on the accident at this time.  The crash remains under investigation by the local police.  In general, there are several common types of injuries that occur in automobile accidents.  They are as follows:

Head and brain injuries.  These include internal bleeding, lacerations that require plastic surgery, traumatic brain injuries, skull fractures, and concussions.

Neck and back injuries.  Typical neck and back injuries include herniated discs, damage to the spinal court, whiplash, strains or sprains.

Burns.  Burns can be minor or serious. While first-degree burns may only require ointment and bandages, severe burns, such as third and fourth degree burns, often require surgical skin grafting that can leave burn victims with disfiguring scars.

Injuries to the soft tissue.  A person who sustains a soft tissue injury could face temporary or chronic pain arising out of stretched tendons, muscles or ligaments.  

Spinal injuries.  When the spinal cord sustains damage, a person can experience radiating pain and tingling, or even become partially or fully paralyzed in the most severe of cases.  

Bone fractures.   This type of injury may take a significant amount of time to heal and may require surgery.
