Police Still Searching for Hit-and-Run Driver Weeks After Fatal Accident in Atlanta, Georgia

October 20, 2019

ATLANTA, GA. – According to an online news story published at ajc.com, police officers are still searching for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident several weeks ago in Atlanta, Georgia. A pedestrian was tragically killed in the collision, according to the news story, and the driver fled the scene.*

The accident occurred early one morning in September on Georgia Highway 400 in Atlanta. The Atlanta Police Department and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution report that at approximately 1:20 a.m., a pedestrian was walking in the outside right lane of Ga. 400 and was struck by a vehicle near to the intersection with Lenox Road. Following the collision, the driver fled the scene and did not alert authorities to the accident.

It is not clear how the crash occurred or what events led to it. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the pedestrian was tragically killed in the accident. She was identified as a female, but her age and hometown were not included in the report.

Weeks have passed without an arrest in the case, and officers are still trying to track down the driver of the vehicle involved in the fatal crash. They are now reaching out to the public to try to close the case. While no description of a potential suspect was provided, the news report indicates that officers found evidence left behind at the scene that sheds light on the type of vehicle involved.

Based on pieces of the car remaining at the scene, police believe the vehicle is a Honda Accord, manufactured sometime between 2003 and 2007. Officers believe the vehicle is gold and likely has a damaged windshield. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-8477 or text a tip to 274637. A cash reward of $2,000 is available on this case.
