One Person Airlifted Following Vehicle Wreck on Hwy 92 in Bear Creek, North Carolina

BEAR CREEK, NC. – According to a news report posted online at, one person was airlifted for treatment with injuries following a vehicle wreck that occurred on Highway 92 in Bear Creek, Chatham County, North Carolina. The accident reportedly occurred close to a high school, and it is not clear if any students were involved.*

The crash happened in the morning, not far down the road from Chatham County High School on Highway 92. It is not clear how the wreck took place or how many vehicles were involved. The news report states that at least three vehicles were involved, but it does not describe the vehicles. A photo taken at the scene and posted to the website for shows that one of the vehicles was a white SUV, and another was a gray or silver SUV or crossover vehicle.

The makes and models of these two vehicles cannot be discerned from the photo. The white SUV has significant front-end damage in the photo, and it appears the silver or gray vehicle also has front-end damage, though a shadow is blocking the extent of this vehicle’s damage. No information about the circumstances surrounding the crash was reported. The way in which the vehicles collided is not known. reports that one person was injured in the accident, and a medical helicopter came to the scene to take this person to a hospital for treatment. This person was not identified. The report said that the person was “badly injured.” No current medical condition was provided. 

It is not clear how many people were inside the vehicles involved in the wreck or whether anyone else sustained injuries. Officials at the scene told reporters that they did not think any Chatham County High School students were involved in the crash, but they were not certain.
