Intersection accidents are often caused by drivers failing to obey a traffic signal. In some cases, a driver attempts to rush a light and misjudges the amount of time they have to make it through the intersection. In others, a distracted driver may simply travel past a stop sign or a traffic light without even noticing. Smartphones can be a problem in many situations because drivers tend to look at text messages or other notifications and fail to see the light change or the upcoming stop sign. Left turns also frequently cause intersection crashes. Drivers can easily misjudge the amount of time they have to make a turn leading to severe accidents.
