SUV, Motorcycle Involved in Fatal Crash on Cobb Pkwy in Cobb County, Georgia
COBB COUNTY, GA. – According to a news report posted online by ajc.com, an SUV and a motorcycle were involved in a fatal crash on Cobb Parkway in Cobb County, Georgia. The motorcyclist was tragically killed in the crash, according to the report, and it is not known if the teenage driver of the SUV will face charges.*
The wreck occurred at the intersection of Cobb Parkway and Black Acre Trail, close to Acworth, Georgia. The Cobb County Police Department and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution report that a Honda motorcycle was traveling south on Cobb, while a Mercedes SUV was traveling north. The model of the motorcycle and the model of the Mercedes were not included in the report.
Officers say that at the crossing with Black Acre Trail, the Mercedes driver attempted to turn left and crossed into the path of the motorcycle. The two vehicles then crashed into each other. Police officers did not immediately say why the accident happened or whether they suspected any specific factors played a role in the collision.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the motorcyclist tragically died at the scene of the accident. He was identified as a 25-year-old man from Kennesaw, Georgia. The report does not indicate that anyone else was riding on the bike with him.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution identified the driver of the Mercedes as a 17-year-old girl from Acworth. She was not injured in the crash, according to the report. It is not clear if she was traveling alone at the time of the accident.
The crash resulted in the roadway being blocked for several hours during the morning rush hour while an investigation took place at the scene. Police are continuing to investigate, and officers have not yet said whether charges will be filed against the teen.
