Fatal Wreck Involving Multiple Motorcycles Reported on Hwy 57 in Toomsboro, Georgia

TOOMSBORO, GA. – According to a news report posted online at, a fatal wreck involving multiple motorcycles occurred on Highway 57 in Toomsboro, Georgia. Preliminary investigation indicates that the wreck happened during a left turn in which a driver did not yield to oncoming traffic.*

The accident took place in the morning at the crossing of Highway 57 with Lords Cemetery Road. Georgia State Patrol and 13 WMAZ report that around 9:30 a.m., three motorcycles were traveling eastbound on the highway, while a 1988 Ford F-150 was traveling west. At the intersection with Lords Cemetery Road, the driver of the Ford tried to make a left turn.

Troopers say that the Ford driver failed to yield to the oncoming motorcycles, and the three motorcycles ended up colliding with the pickup. It is not yet clear why the Ford driver did not wait to turn until the motorcycles had passed. No information about the circumstances leading up to the crash was included in the news report. 

13 WMAZ reports that the motorcyclists were all injured in the accident, and one of them tragically died at the scene. This person was identified as a 51-year-old man from Marietta, Georgia. The other motorcyclists were transported wot the Medical Center, Navicent Health for treatment. They were not identified, and the extent of their injuries was not reported. 

The driver of the Ford was reportedly injured in the accident, as well, but declined transport to a hospital. He was identified as an 80-year-old man from Toomsboro. The report did not say if any passengers were in the Ford or on the motorcycles. 

Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating the collision. At the time the 13 WMAZ report was posted online, Troopers had not released additional information about their investigation.
