Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Crash on Hwy 96 in Warner Robins, Georgia
WARNER ROBINS, GA. – According to a news report published online by 13wmaz.com, a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a vehicle crash that took place on Georgia Highway 96 in Warner Robins, Georgia. The accident is still under investigation, but witness information indicates it might have been caused by a failure to yield.*
The collision happened in the afternoon at the crossing of Lakejoy Road with Highway 96. The Warner Robins Police Department and 13 WMAZ report that around 12:30 p.m., a 2008 Honda CBR600 motorcycle was traveling east on the highway in the left lane. At the same time, a 2003 Toyota 4Runner was headed west on Highway 96. At the intersection with Lakejoy road, it appears the driver of the Toyota attempted to make a turn.
Witnesses at the scene reportedly told investigating authorities that in making the turn from Highway 96, the Toyota failed to yield to the motorcyclist. It is not clear what circumstances might have led to the accident, and authorities did not confirm the cause of the crash.
13 WMAZ reports that during the impact, the motorcyclist was ejected from the bike and injured. Emergency crews took him to the Medical Center, Navicent Health for treatment of injuries that were described as serious in nature. He was identified as a 27-year-old man. His hometown was not listed in the report, nor was his current medical condition.
The driver of the Toyota was identified as a 57-year-old man. His hometown was also not provided. It is not clear from the news report if he sustained any injuries in the crash.
The traffic division of the Warner Robins Police Department is investigating the accident, and officers have not yet said whether charges are anticipated in the case. No further information was included in the report from 13 WMAZ.
