ATLANTA, GA – According to online news articles published by and, a woman was struck and killed by a suspected drunk driver on Arthur B. Langford Parkway.*

The Atlanta Police report that a late night/early morning accident left one woman dead.  The accident happened when a suspected drunk driver hit a woman walking on Arthur B. Langford Parkway near the intersection of Dodson Drive in southwest Atlanta.

The suspected drunk driver, a 42-year-old man, initially left the scene of the accident because he “was not sure what he hit in the roadway,” but later returned to the scene.  Police officers noticed the smell of alcohol on the driver’s breath and noticed that the man was off balance.

Police performed a field sobriety test on the man, which confirmed that he was under the influence of alcohol.  The man was arrested, taken to jail, and charged with multiple crimes, including driving under the influence (DUI), hit and run with failure to aid, and first-degree homicide by vehicle.
