October 07, 2019

CUMMING, GA. – According to an online news report posted at northfulton.com, a red-light accident that happened in Cumming, Georgia, ended with a driver being placed under arrest for driving under the influence. The accident reportedly involved three vehicles, and it is not clear if anyone was injured.*

The crash happened at the intersection of Georgia Highway 400 and Bald Ridge Marina Road. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and the Forsyth Herald report that authorities were dispatched to the area on a call of a traffic accident. They arrived at the scene and found that three vehicles had become involved in a collision. One of the vehicles was described as a 2007 Chevrolet Impala. The other two vehicles were not described in the news report.

According to information provided by a witness who dialed 911 at the scene, the Chevy had been traveling north on Ga. 400, and the driver was behaving erratically. The driver reportedly had a red light at the intersection with Bald Ridge Marina Road but did not appear to slow down. The Chevy then ended up crashing into a second vehicle, and the impact of this collision forced the second vehicle into a third.

It is not clear at this time what caused the accident. Deputies who responded to the accident developed reason to suspect that the Chevy driver was under the influence. They also reported that the driver, who was only identified as a male, was not cooperative and refused to answer their questions. The Forsyth Herald reports that he was placed under arrest for driving under the influence and failure to obey a traffic device. He was booked into the Forsyth County Jail.

The other drivers were also not identified in the report, and the news article did not say whether anyone was injured in the wreck.
