Crash in East Macon Injures Bibb County Deputy in Macon, Georgia

MACON, GA- 13wmaz.com writes that a deputy from Bibb County sustained severe injuries in a crash that occurred in Macon County. The driver of the other involved vehicle was also transported to a nearby hospital. The officer was traveling in his patrol car at the time of the crash. The incident occurred in the evening, a little before 8 p.m.*

Reports indicate that the officer was driving westbound on Shurling Drive, and the other driver was trying to make a turn at the intersection with Kitchens Street when the two vehicles crashed. 

Both involved drivers suffered injuries, but neither of their injuries is considered life-threatening. The accident is still under investigation. 

Intersection accidents are common, and left-turn accidents are some of the most dangerous on the road. It is not uncommon for a vehicle making a left to turn in front of a vehicle traveling straight through the intersection. In these situations, the crash can be head-on or a side-impact collision, both of which often have serious consequences.

It is extremely important for drivers to look carefully when making left turns and not to try to rush through an intersection if a vehicle is approaching. Drivers often misjudge the speed of oncoming vehicles leading to these types of crashes.
