Alleged Drunk Driver Causes Accident with Injuries in Jackson County, Florida

JACKSON COUNTY, FLORIDA - A news story published on WTXT.com reports that an Alabama man was arrested and charged with DUI following a severe motor vehicle accident in Jackson County, Florida.*

The news report states that the crash occurred on Sunday night. Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to an accident along U.S. 231. The crash transpired south of County Road 162.

As Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrived at the accident scene, they found a car on fire. The vehicle had crashed into a utility pole and then flipped over onto its side.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers reported that a witness described the driver of the car who fled the accident scene. Troopers then detained a man who was walking south of the accident scene. The 30-year-old man from Enterprise, Alabama, was transported to a local area hospital in Jackson County. He sustained injuries in the car accident.

After the man was discharged from the hospital, then was taken to jail.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the suspect has been allegedly charged with DUI crash with property damage, no proof of insurance, leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, driving on an expired driver's license for more than six months, and careless driving. The accident is currently under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
