Fatal Head-on Collision in State Road 44 and Old New York Avenue in DeLand, Florida

FLORIDA - According to a news story published on news-journalonline.com, a 76-year-old woman from DeLand was tragically killed in a head-on collision along State Road 44.*

Florida Highway Patrol reported that the head-on collision involved two pickup trucks and happened around 12:10 in the afternoon.  According to Florida Highway Patrol's Lieutenant Kim Montes, the fatal motor vehicle crash occurred at State Road 44 and Old New York Avenue.

The accident report stated that the 76-year-old woman was allegedly not wearing a seatbelt.  She was operating a Ford pickup truck along West New York Avenue (State Road 44) and suddenly crossed into the median and into the eastbound traffic lanes of New York Avenue by Old New York Avenue.  She collided head-on into a Dodge pickup truck.  The woman was taken to AdventHealth DeLand, where she tragically died of her injuries.

Lieutenant Montes reported that the Dodge pickup truck driver, a 64-year-old Eustis man, and his passenger, a 64-year-old Eustis woman, were transported to Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford with severe accident injuries. The fatal accident is currently under investigation.
