Tragic, Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident in Pembroke Pines, Florida

FLORIDA - According to a news story published on nbcmiami.com, a fatal motor vehicle collision occurred in Pembroke Pines, Florida.  The accident injured a driver and killed an occupant in a vehicle.  

The Pembroke Pines Police Department reported that the crash happened just after seven o'clock in the morning and in the area of Sheridan Street and I-75. 

A preliminary accident investigation report states that the driver was heading north on I-75 and turned onto the exit ramp to Sheridan Street.  After exiting the interstate ramp, the driver headed south on Sheridan Street.  The driver crossed over all the traffic lanes, struck the curb, and went airborne.  According to the report, the vehicle then hit a tree, landed in a drainage culvert, and then rolled onto its passenger side.

The driver and their passenger were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital.  The driver suffered minor injuries.  However, the passenger was tragically pronounced dead at Memorial Regional Hospital.  He died due to the accident injuries that he sustained. 

The Traffic Division's investigation is ongoing and criminal charges could be filed pending the outcome of the investigation.  All westbound lanes along I-75 by Sheridan Street were reopened later that day.
