Small Child and Two Adults Sustain Life-threatening Injuries After a Severe Hit-and-Run Accident in Deerfield Beach, Florida

DEERFIELD BEACH, FLORIDA - A news report published on sun-sentinel.com states that an early morning hit-and-run collision critically injured two adults and a small child.*

The three victims are at a local area hospital and they are clinging to life.  The story states that the victim's car is nearly unrecognizable due to the severity of the accident. 

The Broward Sheriff’s Office arrested a 45-year-old man from Deerfield Beach, according to a spokesperson for the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

According to the report, the driver is allegedly facing a dozen criminal charges, including one count of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, five counts of failing to stop or remain at the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury, and six counts of reckless driving causing serious bodily injuries.  

The fatal accident occurred at around one in the morning and in the 100 block of Southwest 10th Street by the intersection of the South Dixie Highway.

The three accident victims were heading eastbound in a Toyota Camry, while a Jeep Wrangler rear-ended the Toyota, the Sheriff’s Office reported.  The at-fault driver fled the accident scene.  The driver, her male passenger, and a little boy were all hospitalized with life-threatening accident injuries.  According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, the victims' injuries were so severe, that Broward traffic homicide detectives were called in to head up the investigation.  The names of those involved in the accident were not made public due to Florida’s 2018 Marsy’s Law.
