The truck accident happened at around 1 in the morning on Friday.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of a car, a 27-year-old man from Mississippi, was heading east in the turn lane while the semi-truck was heading west in the inside lane. The accident transpired on Martin Luther King Boulevard at the Waring Drive intersection.
The report states that a 27-year-old driver turned left in front of the 18-wheeler. The tractor-trailer truck then collided with the passenger side of the motor vehicle. The crash caused both motor vehicles to crash through a homeowner's fence.
Tragically, the 53-year-old truck driver died at the accident scene. The Florida Highway Patrol stated that the truck driver was not wearing his seatbelt. The Gulfport driver sustained serious injuries in the crash. The fatal truck accident is currently under investigation.
