Fatal DUI Pedestrian Accident on the Sunny Isles Beach Bridge
FLORIDA - A news article published on nbcmiami.com reports that a 33-year-old has been allegedly charged with Vehicular Homicide and DUI Manslaughter for a fatal pedestrian accident in Sunny Isles Beach.* The fatal accident tragically took the life of a 61-year-old man.
According to Miami-Dade Police, the driver stated that she was drunk after she crashed her Maserati into a male pedestrian. The man was parked alongside the road due to his Ferrari having mechanical problems. The collision threw the injured man into the water below the Sunny Isles Beach bridge. The at-fault driver turned herself into law enforcement this past Monday and was booked into the county jail. She posted bond and was later released.
After the collision, the driver remained at the scene of the crash, and law enforcement officers stated that they detected the smell of alcohol on the driver. The arrest report said the woman's blood-alcohol concentration level was .240, which is three times the legal limit of 0.08.
