Public safety officials are concerned about firework safety with the upcoming holiday and have provided useful tips on how to enjoy fireworks while avoiding accidents that often result in injury, property damage, or in some cases, both. In most states, each municipality is responsible for creating and passing its own fireworks ordinances. However, regardless of the ordinance, several basic safety practices should always be observed where or when fireworks are used.

According to an online news report published on newscientist.com, a new research study has discovered that street signs may cause more traffic accidents. Traffic accident statistics used in the study showed that the number of motor vehicle accidents on roads in Texas increased when "electronic signs were used to display driving fatality figures." The study suggests that some warnings displayed on electronic road signs can cause "more harm than good."

On March 2, 2022, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) published a press release that provides its annual traffic crash data. The media release showed that 2020 had the highest number of traffic accident-related fatalities and was the highest fatality rate since 2007. The U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration crash data state that 38,824 people lost their lives in motor vehicle crashes nationwide.

The experts include microbiologists, toxin and pathogen experts from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
