The U.S. Coast Guard is reporting that they have witnessed a 25 percent jump in the number of boating fatalities last year. This year, the number of boating deaths is on pace to be even higher.

The National Highway Transportation Administration estimates that approximately 400 fatal accidents are caused by texting and driving.  The NHTSA also estimates that around 660,000 drivers are driving and using their cell phones at any moment and on any given day.  

Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk reiterated his vision for a Full Self-Driving fleet.

OHIO - The number of traffic accidents will rise now that students have returned to school. According to Kellie O'Riordan, the traffic safety program manager for AAA Ohio Auto Club, traffic volume is increasing and this means a greater chance of crashes in school zones and neighborhoods.

According to the Peachtree City police, who is currently investigating the crash, the man was from Peachtree City.

GEORGIA - A news article published on wjbf.com reports that the Richmond County Coroner's Office is currently investigating a deadly motor vehicle accident that happened last Wednesday night.*  The fatal accident transpired on Highway 56 by Moore Road in Richmond County, Georgia.  

CAMDEN COUNTY, GA - A news article published on ajc.com reports that a Florida woman has been tragically killed, and 17 people were injured in an interstate multi-vehicle accident.*  According to the Georgia State Patrol, the crash occurred on Interstate 95 in Camden County, Georgia. 

USDA - According to an online news article published  CNN.COM, Serenade Foods has initiated a recall of approximately 60,000 pounds of "frozen, raw, breaded and pre-browned stuffed chicken products."  According to the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service, the frozen, raw chicken products are being recalled due to a risk of Salmonella Enteritidis contamination.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - A new infrastructure bill may require car manufacturers to build automobiles with technology to detect drunk drivers and include sensors that prevent children from being left in motor vehicles during hot days.  

MISSOURI - Sixty-five motorcycle accident deaths have occurred so far in 2021 in Missouri.  This is an increase of approximately 25 percent from this same period in 2020.  The report states that thirty-five of these motorcyclists were not wearing a helmet.  Missouri transportation officials stated that there were only two motorcycle accident deaths at this time last year.

PORT ST. LUCIE, FLORIDA - A news report posted on tcpalm.com reports that a 23-year-old motorcyclist traically died in a accident on Southwest Port St. Lucie Boulevard, just west of Florida's Turnpike in Port St. Lucie, Florida.*

Parking lots might seem like an unlikely location for collisions given that most vehicles are parked or moving at slow rates of speed.  Despite this reasonable assumption, nearly 20 percent of all collisions occur in parking garages and parking lots according to CBS.  Distracted driving constitutes the primary factor behind the surprising frequency of collisions in car park facilities.  The National Safety Council (NSC) reports that 500 people die and another 60,000 suffer injury in the more than 50,000 parking lot collision per year.
