A study conducted in 2019 by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) shows a correlation between speed limit increases and higher numbers of speeding-related fatalities. Yet, states around the country keep raising their maximum speed limits.

The incident occurred when the six-year-old boy missed his school bus and was reportedly trying to walk back home. The police arrived at the site of a pedestrian incident, which occurred on Martin Luther King Boulevard SW and found that the child had died at the scene.*

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA- Fox5atlanta.com writes that a deadly accident took place in Gwinnett County late last week. The incident occurred in the early morning when four vehicles, involving two passenger vehicles and two tractor-trailers collided.*

NORTH FORSYTH, GA- Forsythnews.com writes that a head-on collision killed a woman from Gainesville late last week. Police reports indicate that a 29-year-old operating a 2018 Jeep Compass and heading eastbound on Keith Bridge Road veered into oncoming traffic and collided with another car. The 42-year-old victim was driving a 2005 Toyota Scion. A 26-year-old passenger in the Toyota and the driver of the Jeep both suffered injuries in the deadly crash. The victim died at the scene of the wreck.* 

STEWART CRASH, GA- Wrbl.com writes that a fatal collision took place on Georgia 39 late last week. The incident led to the death of a 39-year-old man from Buena Vista, Georgia. Reports indicate that the crashes occurred in the late morning when the driver of a log truck veered into oncoming traffic. The victim attempted to correct but overturned the truck and landed on his side.*

COBB COUNTY, GA- Patch.com writes that a crash left three women with severe injuries over the weekend in Cobb County. The collision occurred at an intersection when a 2008 Honda CR-V attempted to make a left turn off of Woodstock Road and onto Mabry Road in East Cobb. The Honda entered the pathway of a 2014 Jeep Wrangler that was driving eastbound on Woodstock Road.*

WOODSTOCK, GA - Northwestgeogianews.com writes that a serious collision injured three people in Woodstock. The crash took place in the evening on Mabry Road. The driver of a Honda CR-V turned left, and a 2014 Jeep Wrangler struck the Honda.*

SANDY SPRINGS, GA - 11alive.com writes that a crash took place on Georgia 400 over the weekend and led to significant delays in traffic. The crash occurred in the early morning when and involved a tractor-trailer and two smaller vehicles.*

ACWORTH, GA- Patch.com writes that a man from Acworth died in a crash over the weekend when he was struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian was crossing Highway 92 in Cherokee County in the late morning when a left-turning vehicle struck him.*

GLASTONBURY, CT- Courant.com writes that a woman died in a pedestrian crash in Glastonbury late last week. The victim was identified as an 84-year-old woman. Reports indicate that the incident occurred on Griswold Street in the early afternoon. Police believe that the victim was walking across the road to get her mail when a driver struck her and then fled the scene.* 

MACON, GA- Wgxa.tv writes that a motorcyclist died in a multiple-vehicle crash in Macon. The 57-year-old victim was riding a Harley Davidson bike at the time of the wreck. The incident took place on Riverside Drive in the early morning.*

SOUTH HALL, GA- Gainesvilletimes.com writes that two people were hospitalized following a wreck in South Hall. A motorcycle and another vehicle were involved in the accident, which occurred in the late evening. Responders arrived at the intersection of Spout Springs Road and Dove Point Lane and transported the victims to nearby medical facilities. Reports did not indicate the severity of the injuries or the identity of the victims.*

MACON, GA- Construction crews have been hard at work making improvements to numerous crosswalks in the Macon-Bibb area, according to 41NBC.COM. The Georgia Department of Transportation (G-DOT) is looking to improve pedestrian safety following several tragic pedestrian accidents.*

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, AL- The washingtontimes.com writes that Montgomery County has committed itself to eliminating traffic-related deaths by the year 2030. After three pedestrians died in tragic collisions this month, the county officials are holding meetings to discuss their “Vision Zero” objectives.*

MARIETTA, GA- Cbs46.com writes that a crash involving three vehicles caused severe injuries and shut down traffic lanes during the later evening on Interstate 75. The incident took place in the northbound lanes close to the exit at Delk Road.*

PENNSYLVANIA- A serious crash occurred in Pennsylvania last week that tragically killed five people and injured many others, according to PATCH.COM. The tragic incident highlights a problem in the state.*

SOUTH FULTON, GA - Cosfobserver.com writes that police in the state are planning to conduct DUI checkpoints in the South Fulton and Fairburn area in order to deter drunk drivers who are celebrating the Super Bowl.*

JASPER COUNTY, GA- A plane crash took place in Georgia earlier this month, according to 11ALIVE.COM. The incident tragically killed a 72-year-old man who was operating the aircraft and was the only person onboard. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has been working to understand what caused the Cessna 172H to come down.*

GEORGIA - Traffic in Georgia could be upgraded and transformed with smart technology designed to improve safety and reduce congestion on Georgia roads in the near future, according to NORTHWESTGEORGIANEWS.COM.  The new technology has the capability of warning drivers if someone is about to run a red light. MARTA buses may be capable of requesting a green light as they approach an intersection, and special traffic signals can alert authorities if a crash occurs or a vehicle stalls on the road.*

TAMPA, FL- Usnews.com writes that a fatal collision led to the authorities shutting down the entrance to the Tampa International Airport over the weekend. The early morning incident killed two people. For several hours following the crash, police redirected travelers heading to the airport.*

STATESBORO, GA- Statesboroherald.com writes that a motorcyclist died after a car drove into his path on the Veterans Memorial Parkway. The victim, a 33-year-old man, was riding southbound in the early afternoon when a 2017 Nissan Versa pulled in front of him. The 21-year-old woman driving the Nissan was attempting to turn left when she cut off the motorcycle.*

CAIRO, GA- Walb.com writes that a child died in an early morning pedestrian crash. The incident took place on Martin Luther King Avenue SW at its intersection with Legion Avenue SW. The victim’s grandmother spoke with reporters and confirmed that the child died trying to get to school.*

COBB COUNTY, GA- Wsbtv.com writes that a graduate from the University of Georgia died when a drunk driver crashed into his vehicle. The 26-year-old victim was traveling home from Smyrna, where he had completed his post-medical training when he was struck.*

MORGANTOWN, WV- Wdtv.com writes that a student from the West Virginia University died in a crash in Pennsylvania over the weekend. The collision left another student in critical condition. Pennsylvania State Police reported that the two young women were traveling in an Uber when a driver struck the car that they were traveling in, killing the 21-year-old and severely injuring her friend.*

MOORE HAVEN, FL- Nbc-2.com writes that two motorcycles collided in a wreck on SR-78 in Moore Haven. The collision occurred over the weekend during the afternoon. Police identified the victim as a 60-year-old man from Okeechobee.*

CHARLOTTE, NC- Wbtv.com writes that a woman died after being injured in a pedestrian crash last week. The victim, identified as an 87-year-old woman, was struck by a driver on Sunset Road near its intersection with Beatties Ford Road in the later evening.*

TUSCALOOSA, AL- Two construction workers sustained serious injuries in an accident that took place during construction on the Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, according to CONSTRUCTIONDIVE.COM. The structural concrete beams fell onto a manlift that the victims were operating at the time.*

GEORGIA - Georgia falls somewhere in the middle when it comes to drunk driving rates, according to Patch.com. A recent study conducted by a drug testing company looked at and reviewed data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to determine which states have the highest numbers of impaired drivers.*

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Highway Patrol indicated that in the first six months of 2019, 410 people died on the state’s roads, which is 38 more than during the same timeframe in 2018. Curiously, deaths in urban areas increased, while accident deaths in rural areas dropped according to a report appear on WVLT 8’s website. The increase in the number of fatalities was not limited to occupants of motor vehicles. Pedestrian fatalities and motorcycle fatalities also ticked higher. The Tennessee Highway Patrol cautioned motorists to watch for vulnerable road users such as pedestrians, bicycle riders, and motorcyclists. 

LONG COUNTY, GA- Wtoc.com writes that an early morning crash killed a deputy with the Long County Sheriff's Office. The officer was helping with the pursuit of a suspect on Highway 57. The incident took place in the middle of the night close to Tibet Road.*

MORGAN COUNTY, GA- Morgancountycitizen.com writes that a 72-year-old man died in a pedestrian crash this week. The victim was struck by a 2008 Jeep Wrangler that was traveling south and entering the turn lanes to drive into a local grocery store.*

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA- Ajc.com writes that police arrested a woman this week in connection to a tragic deadly car crash that killed two truck drivers. The wreck occurred on Interstate 85 in the southbound lanes. Witnesses and physical evidence collected at the scene of the crash indicated that the 28-year-old woman drove her vehicle into a guard rail setting off the fatal collision.*

LONG COUNTY, GA - Ajc.com writes that a car chase ended in tragedy when a police officer died in South Georgia. The victim, who was a deputy with the Long County Sheriff’s Office, died while pursuing a suspect on GA 57. The other officers had continued the chase into McIntosh County and then realized one of the vehicles was no longer with them.*

HABERSHAM COUNTY, GA- Thenortheastgeorgian.com writes that a crash took place on State Road 365 in Georgia this week. The fatal wreck killed a 74-year-old woman from Athens. The victim was a passenger in the 1998 Toyota 4Runner when the driver lost control of the car.* 

SANDY SPRINGS, GA - Ajc.com writes that a person got struck by a car in Georgia this week. The accident shut the roadway down for several hours while responders worked at the scene.* 

GEORGIA- Walb.com writes that the Georgia State Police are telling drivers across the state to stop using their phones and to slow down. Police spoke out following a fatal collision that took the life of a woman from Florida on Interstate 75.*

TN- Ctmirror.org writes that while statistically, school buses are the safest way for students to get to and from school, drunk or otherwise impaired drivers operate these vehicles more often than most people realize.*

PORTAL, GA- Wtoc.com writes that a tragic collision killed two people on a roadway in Portal earlier this week. The incident occurred on Pleasant Hill Road close to Oglesby Pond Road. One of the victims in the vehicle survived the deadly wreck. Investigators stated that they would be questioning the survivor once she has had an opportunity to recover.*

COBB COUNTY, GA- Ajc.com writes that a tractor-trailer was involved in a severe crash on the Cobb Parkway earlier this week. The collision shut down the road during the morning commute. Reports indicate that the southbound lanes remained closed for around an hour while crews worked at the scene.*

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL- Carscoop.com writes that a Nissan GT-R drove through a red traffic light in Hallandale Beach, Florida, and struck a Tesla Model X. The force of the crash removed the rear of the Tesla from just behind the back seat. Even the rear tires were severed from the front half of the Tesla.*

ATLANTA, GA- Cbs46.com writes that a driver died in a two-car crash in Atlanta earlier this week. The incident took place on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive in the early evening. Emergency services responded to the crash site and found one of the drivers unresponsive. EMTs declared the person dead at the scene.*

McINTOSH COUNTY, GA- Wsav.com writes that a Long County police officer died while pursuing another driver early in the morning this week. The incident began when the officer saw a motorist violate several stop signs. Officers followed the driver as the suspect attempted to escape on Highway 57.*

NORTH CAROLINA- Yourgv.com writes that a single-vehicle crash injured two people in Virginia last weekend. The crash took place in the evening on Highway 58 when the driver’s 1985 Chevrolet C10 overturned, rolled down an embankment, and then caught on fire.*

ATLANTA, GA- Ajc.com writes that traffic signals in Atlanta are being technologically upgraded. The city currently has 400 “smart” signals helping to control the city traffic. Smart traffic signals are those that can communicate with cars and apps in order to increase efficient traffic patterns and keep drivers safer on the road. Now, Atlanta will be installing another 1,000 of these devices.*

NEWNAN, GA- 11alive.com writes that a student from the University of Georgia was injured in a head-on crash over the weekend with a driver who then fled the scene. The driver who struck the student is now in custody after police were able to use traffic cameras to identify the vehicle.*

USA-  Passengers riding in the back of ride-sharing vehicles often fail to use their seatbelts, according to NORTHWESTGEORGIA.COM. One driver who works for Uber stated that front seat passengers often use their seatbelt and that if they do not, he will remind them to do so. In the back of his vehicle, however, he estimates about 70-80 percent of passengers neglect to wear their safety belt. The driver said that if children are in the vehicle, he will comment and ask them to fasten the belt, but other times the passengers will ride unrestrained.*

MACON, GA- Macon.com writes that a recent report ranked the 200 largest cities in the country by pedestrian danger.  Macon came in tenth, indicating the city has a much higher than average rate of deadly pedestrian crashes.*

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD- Mymcmedia.org writes that within weeks of the start of 2020, two people lost their lives walking on Montgomery County roads. Last week, a 28-year-old man from Rockville driving a 2011 Nissan Sentra struck and killed a 40-year-old man from Gaithersburg.*

MESQUITE, NM- Cbs4local.com writes that an eighteen-year-old boy died in a crash in Dona Ana County, New Mexico. The incident occurred on Interstate 10 close to Mesquite earlier this week. The boy was from El Paso, Texas.*

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA- Coveringthecorridor.com writes that two vehicles struck and killed a pedestrian in Fairfax County earlier this week. The incident occurred in the Northbound lanes on Richmond Highway close to Fort Belvoir.*

MCHENRY, IL- Scnow.com writes that a pickup truck drove through the wall of a Starbucks coffee shop in Illinois this week. The vehicle caused severe damage to the shop and reports indicate five people suffered injuries including the driver and four people in the building.*

ATLANTA, GA- Fox5atlanta.com writes that a deadly collision occurred in the northbound lanes of Georgia 400 over the weekend. Police say the crash was caused by a wrong-way driver. Investigators believe that the vehicle made a turn to enter traffic heading in the wrong direction, as it does not appear that the vehicle crossed over a median.*

SAVANNAH, GA- Wtoc.com writes that a multiple vehicle collision occurred in Chatham County, Georgia, on Interstate 95 over the weekend. The late-night accident took place in the southbound lanes close to Abercorn.*

Columbus, GA- Wtvm.com writes that three fatal crashes took place within just three days in the Chattahoochee Valley. The first of the tragic events occurred last week when a train struck and killed a 41-year-old man in Columbus.*

GWINNETT, GA- Ajc.com writes that a man died in a severe wrong-way crash that occurred early in the morning on GA 400. The incident occurred in the early morning when the victim was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes.*

WAMPUM, PA- Ncnewsonline.com writes that a teenager from Champion, Ohio, died in a tragic crash late last week. The incident occurred when the eighteen-year-old girl was traveling westbound on Route 288 in the morning. The teen then merged onto Route 18, where a truck collided with the girl’s Hyundai. The crash led to both vehicles leaving the road and landing in a ditch.*

USA- Apple issued a recall of 15 inch Macbook Pro laptops over concerns that the batteries may cause a risk of fires, according to ABC15.com.  Other manufacturers, including Toshiba, Sony, and HP, also issued recalls following consumer complaints about injuries and damage caused by these devices.* 

SALT LAKE CITY, UT- Breitbart.com writes that a severe collision occurred in Salt Lake City after a Tesla went through a red light at an intersection in Salt Lake City. Three people suffered critical injuries in the accident and the resulting car fire. It is not yet known whether the vehicle’s autopilot was engaged when the incident took place.*

JONES COUNTY, GA- Macon.com writes that a family is suing a trucking company and the driver of a semi after the truck’s wheel became detached from the trailer and struck a driver through her windshield. The incident occurred last summer when the victim, a 36-year-old woman, was driving an SUV in Interstate 75. The truck’s dislodged tire crossed the median and entered oncoming traffic where it crashed through her windshield and killed the woman.*

COBB COUNTY, GA- Ajc.com writes that a teen died in a tragic crash in Cobb County over the weekend. The seventeen-year-old victim was operating the vehicle and appeared to have lost control of the car while driving westbound on Jamerson Road. The vehicle drifted into the eastbound lanes of traffic and then struck a Kia Forte head-on.*

LUBBOCK, TX- Ncadvertiser.com writes that two first responders died in a tragic crash while they were responding to an earlier call. The incident took place on Interstate 27 in the morning over the weekend. As severe weather descended upon the region, icy roads led to multiple crashes.*

PENDER COUNTY, NC- Wect.com writes that a driver struck and killed a teenage boy last week and then left the scene. The incident occurred on US 421, close to Wards County Loop Road. Reports indicate that the eighteen-year-old victim was walking southbound when the driver collided with him.*

COLUMBUS, IN- Therepublic.com writes that a pedestrian suffered severe injuries in a crash late last week in Columbus. The incident occurred on Bean Road in the evening. The 43-year-old male victim is a local from Columbus. When the police arrived on the scene, they stated that the man was breathing but was not responsive.*

SAVANNAH, GA- Wtoc.com writes that a car struck a cyclist in Savannah at the intersection of Abercorn Street and East Charleston. The incident occurred in the afternoon earlier this week.*

COBB COUNTY, GA- 11alive.com writes that two drivers struck pedestrians in Cobb County, Georgia, within hours of one another. The first incident occurred close to Six Flags over Georgia, and the second took place near Acworth in the north of the county.*

TALIAFERRO COUNTY, GA- Ajc.com writes that a teen died late last week in a wrong-way accident on Interstate 20 in Taliaferro County, Georgia. The collision occurred when the young driver struck a median, sending the car into the air before crashing onto the side of the roadway.*

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD- Bethesdamagazine.com writes that a man from Gaithersburg was attempting to cross the street when a car struck and killed him earlier this week in Montgomery County. The victim, identified as a 40-year-old man, was struck in the evening and died in the hospital the following day.*

BALDWIN COUNTY, GA- Unionrecorder.com writes that a woman caused a single-vehicle collision that killed three of her passengers last spring in Baldwin County. A grand jury has now indicted the 59-year-old woman from Milledgeville on thirteen counts.*

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, NHTSA, determined that in 2018, 9,378 people tragically died in motor vehicle crashes caused by speeding.  In 2017, speeding was a contributing factor in 26 percent of all traffic fatalities.  Speeding, along with drunk driving and distracted driving, are the most dangerous behaviors on the road that are also the easiest to avoid. The NHTSA points out that speeding endangers everyone on the roadway, not just the passengers in the speeding car. *

WEST PALM BEACH, FL- Wptv.com writes that a car accident killed a man in West Palm Beach earlier this week. The victim, a 79-year-old man, died from injuries he sustained in the wreck.*

SAN ANTONIO, FL- Fox13news.com writes that a traffic crash earlier this week killed a nineteen-year-old driver. The victim, identified as a man from Colorado, was driving a Dodge Challenger westbound on State Road 52 in the very early morning.  When the victim attempted to use the right turn lane to enter the highway’s northbound lanes, he lost control of the vehicle and drove onto the shoulder. The Dodge struck a concrete support used to support the signs for the entrance ramp.*

WATERBURY, CT- Patch.com writes that a fatal collision involving a girl’s rowing team in Florida injured the daughter of the Mayor of Waterbury. The horrific wreck took place earlier this week in Florida when the team was on its way to practice. A van carrying several of the College of the Holy Cross students collided with a Dodge truck at an intersection, killing the twenty-year-old sophomore.*

ST. CLOUD, FL- Clickorlando.com writes that a driver died from injuries sustained in a crash this week in Osceola County, Florida. The single-vehicle wreck took place on the Florida Turnpike in the early morning close to St. Cloud.*

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA- Nbc29.com writes a tragic collision that killed three people in Virginia. The wreck involved five vehicles that were traveling on Interstate 81 in the afternoon earlier this week.*

BAY COUNTY, FL- The dothaneagle.com writes that a collision in Bay County killed a man late last week. The victim was identified as a 62-year-old man from Altha.*

TALIAFERRO COUNTY, GA- Wrdw.com writes that a sixteen-year-old died in a collision in Taliaferro County late last week. The authorities located the mangled vehicle on Interstate 20. Police believe that the driver exited the interstate, then entered again, but heading against the flow of traffic.*

NEW ORLEANS, LA- Wdsu.com writes that a car struck a pedestrian earlier this week, leading to long delays on the Pontchartrain Expressway for morning commuters. According to police, the female victim suffered head trauma. Responders transported the woman to the hospital, but her condition is not known at this time.*

THOMASVILLE, NC-The-dispatch.com writes that a crash on Interstate 85 Business Loop occurred in the afternoon earlier this week. The wreck injured two people.*

FL- The sun-sentinel.com writes that a fifteen-year-old boy died in a crash on the Florida Turnpike earlier this week. The teen was in an SUV that rolled over, killing the boy and injuring six others. The early evening crash took place in the northbound lanes close to the Atlanta Avenue exit.*

MILTON, FL- Wkrg.com writes that a cyclist died in an evening crash earlier this week in Milton. The incident took place at the intersection of Woodbine Road and Fawnwood Drive.*

SAVANNAH, GA- Wsav.com writes that investigators are working to determine the cause of a severe cyclist crash that took place earlier this week in Savannah. The incident occurred in the early afternoon when the victim, identified as an eighteen-year-old woman, was biking on Charleston Street near Lafayette Square.*

MURRAYVILLE, GA- Wattagnet.com writes that a worker died in a tragic workplace accident at a poultry plant in Georgia this week. The incident occurred in the early morning when the 38-year-old Stone Mountain man slipped from a ladder and struck his head.*

BIBB COUNTY, GA- Wgxa.com writes that two crashes occurred in Bibb County on Interstate 75 in the morning earlier this week. One crash happened in the southbound lanes and the other in the northbound lanes. Responders say that the two crashes were not related to one another.*

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA- Patch.com writes that a professor from Georgia Gwinnett College died from injuries he suffered in a hit-and-run crash earlier this month. The 62-year-old victim taught chemistry at the college. The man was crossing the street in Maryland when a driver struck him and then fled the scene. Reports indicate that the professor was on his way home from New York, where he was visiting his family over the holidays.*

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA- Times-standard.com writes that a man died in a tragic collision on US Highway 101 at the Indianola Cutoff earlier this week. The victim was identified as a 48-year-old man from Eureka. Reports indicate that the man was driving a 1991 GMC Jimmy and was attempting to turn left onto the Cutoff when a Northbound 2019 GMC Yukon crashed into him. The impact caused the Jimmy to roll over.*

WILLIAMSTON, SC- Foxcarolina.com writes that a car struck a police officer earlier this week. The officer responded to an earlier call when another vehicle struck him. When medics arrived at the scene, they stated that the injured officer was conscious.*

MIDLAND, TX- Sanangelolive.com writes that two men are dead following a terrible and tragic wreck that took place in Midland County late last week.*

YELLOWSTONE- Fairfieldsuntimes.com writes that four people died when a small aircraft came down over the weekend. The incident occurred about 25 miles away from Billings, and the Yellowstone County Sheriff identified those killed in the tragic crash.*

GEORGIA-  Driverless cars are coming to Georgia, according to GOVERNING.COM. A portion of the state’s Interstate 85 will be used to test autonomous vehicles. The relevant part of the interstate is named The Ray, and private companies such as 3M and Panasonic are now partnering with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) in a project that will bring “refractive bead technology” to the state.*

SAVANNAH, GA - The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is placing HAWK signals at three locations all on Bay Street. The new devices will be in place by mid-January.*

Reducing speed and eliminating distractions are key to avoiding serious car crashes, according to law enforcement officials in South Carolina. Officials also say that wearing a seat belt is still one of the easiest ways to keep yourself safe on the roads.

North Carolina recorded numerous cases of vaping-related lung illness in 2019, part of a rash of documented cases that swept the country in the later part of the year. GEORGIA- Mooresvilletribune.com writes that a man died late last week in an incident involving an ammonia leak at a warehouse in Georgia. The worker, identified as a 35-year-old man from Woodstock, Georgia, was a sub-contractor working for a cold storage company. Another worker also sustained injuries in the accident.*

SAVANNAH, GA- Wsav.com writes that speeding kills more teens in Georgia than anything else, and that about 9,000 people die across the country every year because of speeding vehicles.*

The construction of roundabouts at several intersections in South Carolina has improved safety and reduced the number of vehicle accidents at those locations. The South Carolina Department of Transportation is considering placing roundabouts at other intersections, based on the success of those currently in use.

TOCCOA, GA- Foxcarolina.com writes that a plane came down earlier this week in Jasper County, killing a man from Toccoa. The afternoon crash involved a Cessna 172 that was heading to Cairo, Georgia. The only individual on board at the time was the victim. The FAA is currently investigating the incident.*

FORT PIERCE, FL- cbs12.com writes that a man died in a tragic car accident in Fort Pierce over the weekend. The victim was operating a 2010 Toyota Camry and traveling north on US Highway 1 when he was spotted by a police officer traveling at an unsafe speed. The driver reportedly attempted to make a U-turn but cut over the grass and veered onto a sidewalk and then into a parking lot. The officer then attempted to pull the driver over.*

AUGUSTA, GA- Wrdw.com writes that a tragic crash occurred on Gordon Highway killed an 80-year-old man. Reports indicate that the early afternoon collision involved a Dodge Durango and a semi-truck. The driver operating the Dodge reportedly crossed into oncoming traffic, and the two vehicles collided head-on. The truck driver told investigators that he attempted to swerve out of the way, but was unable to do so.*

CHARLOTTE, NC- Wbtv.com writes that a car struck and killed a person riding a bike late last week on Glenwood Drive. The victim was described as a male juvenile. NORCROSS, GA- Fox5atlanta.com writes that a semi-truck drifted off Jimmy Carter Boulevard and crossed an embankment and then flipped over at a gas station parking lot. The careening tractor-trailer struck two vehicles that were stopped at a red traffic light before colliding with eight more at the parking lot. Workers took hours to turn the truck back upright.*

MARION, FL- Wctv.com writes that a two-vehicle wreck killed one person over the weekend in Marion County. The collision occurred on State Road 326 at its intersections worth NW 77^th Street.* 

LOGANVILLE, GA- Ajc.com writes that a pedestrian died late last week in a tragic accident on Ga. 78. The victim, a 37-year-old woman from Loganville, was walking on the roadway near a Kroger and a Burger King in the evening. GEORGIA- When a 92-year-old woman wandered out of her senior care facility in Macon, an alarm was supposed to go off to alert staff, according to The Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC). The retired teacher and widowed great-grandmother was suffering from dementia and was in a confused state, and when she left the facility in her nightgown, she suffered a severe fall down an embankment. The woman broke her neck and tragically died before any of the people tasked with caring for her had even realized that she had left the facility.*

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - A Gwinnett County jury awarded $8.6 million to the family of a trained stuntman who tragically lost his life on-set during the production of a “Walking Dead” episode in 2017, according to CBSNEWS.COM.*

USA- Cnn.com writes that throughout the country, four planes crashed last weekend, leading to multiple fatalities and injuries. The accidents occurred in New York, Louisiana, Maryland, and North Carolina. The crash in Louisiana killed five people. One person died in the aircraft that came down in Maryland. Every one of the incidents involved a small plane.*

TAYLORS, SC- Wyff4.com writes that a deadly crash took place on Wade Hampton Boulevard in Greenville County late last week. The county coroner identified the victim as a 42-year-old woman from Honea Path. The incident occurred in the late evening near Main Street.*

GEORGIA - Lawmakers in Georgia are considering a change to the state’s seat belt law, according to WTVY.COM. While the law does not currently require adults in the backseat of a vehicle to buckle up, the proposed amendment would require every vehicle occupant to use a seat belt regardless of their age or placement in the vehicle.*

DEKALB COUNTY, GA- The city of Dunwoody passed an ordinance in November designed to protect cyclists and may be the strictest cyclist law in the state, according to THECHAMPIONNEWSPAPER.COM. The ordinance is not limited to protecting people on bikes.  The “Vulnerable Road Users” law is intended to make the road safer for pedestrians, motorcyclists, scooter riders, emergency service employees and skateboarders.*

The incident occurred in the afternoon, and neighbors say that they heard the crash and came out to see the damage to the home.
