All the nominees were well-deserving, and we appreciate the time they took to enter our contest!
The Brown Family of Athens, GA
My wife needs a vacation! She’s never had a real vacation! She came back to Athens in 2010 as a single parent and also cared for her mom until she passed away in 2020. After her mom passed she became really depressed because her mom lived with us and it was hard to move forward! My wife recently began to get better but was hit with another blow when I suffered acute heart failure and was hospitalized for a week! I now have a defibrillator and she’s constantly concerned about my well-being, not to mention her job. My wife houses homeless veterans so she’s constantly working trying to find housing for her comrades! She served in the Army for 11 years as a truck driver with one tour in Iraq! My wife has a spirit of service, but she needs a break!
The Daniels Family of McDonough, GA
We have been a military family for more than 30 years between my husband and I we have served 3 tours in Iraq. He’s retired but at age 50 I’m still pushing and serving in the Army. I’ve never had a real vacation so to win one would be amazing!! We now have two of our children serving in the military, one son is in the Air Force and a daughter in the US Army.
The Fuller Family of Valdosta, GA
The Fuller family should be considered for many reasons. The husband, Michael, has severed in the USAF for 19 years and has deployed 13 times. The wife, Alexandra, hosts medical clinics in rural Africa and homeschools their children. The kiddos are both phenomenal humans. Cason, is 11, and is one of the kindest children you’ll meet. Cadence, 7, was adopted almost 3 years ago and is one of the most resilient and strong humans to grace this earth. Together, they work to change the world daily.
The Law Family of Gainesville, GA
I am a single mother of 2 boys and retired Air Force. I have been through a lot while I served and after. I had a drug problem last year, but I am completely sober! I am sober now 7 months! I’ve felt so lost since my retirement and I’m still finding my way in this civilian world. I don’t know if I’m worthy of a vacation, but I could sure use one!
The Young Family of Woodstock, GA
I’m not sure it’s allowed that I nominate my own family. My husband is a disabled veteran. We have tried to save the money to be able to take our kiddos 6 and 2 on a family vacation but have not been able to. Trying to both work during a pandemic my hours have been cut drastically and my husband has continued to work part time for the Atlanta police department. As he had a very hard time finding full time employment due to his disabled status. It’s been a very trying time and a vacation with the family would be amazing.
