Dogs share many roles in our lives; family pets, rescue agents and even aides to those who are handicapped. Unfortunately, 4.5 million Americans are bitten by dog bites each year, and one in five dog bites result in injuries that require medical attention, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Children are at a greater risk of being bitten, especially those ages 5-9 years of age. However, most dog bite-related injuries can be prevented by following some simple precautions.
